Now I’ve been a smoothie fanatic for over 8 years now, and I have to tell you that majority of all my smoothies have bananas in them. But sometimes you just have to switch it up, or maybe you might even not like bananas or have an allergy to them.
In any case, the key to making a delicious sweet green smoothie without bananas is making sure you have natural sweeteners to jazz up your smoothie.
Natural Sweeteners
These can include:
- Sweet Fruit like: dates, figs, grapes, papaya, persimmons, sapote, etc…
- Dried fruit: raisins, unsweetened dried apricot, dried apples
- Fruit that’s just ripe and in season: pineapple, apricots, strawberries, oranges, mangoes, nectarines, peaches, pears, etc…
- Natural sweeteners like: honey, maple syrup, agave nectar, stevia, coconut sugar
The Perfect Green Smoothie Ratio For Beginners
Now to be honest, I don’t have a set formula for my smoothies, but I have found that when I put about 50+% of fruit + 10% liquid of choice + 30+% of veggies (leafy greens & herbs) then not only does the smoothie taste “freakin” fantastic, but I’m also getting some awesome nutrients all in one drink! This formula allows you to enjoy drinking your smoothie but also gives you the boost of health that you need. Now its not set in stone at all. You have to find the perfect formula that works for you! Sometimes I do more fruits than veggies and vice versa, but the key I feel is to drink your fruits & veggies daily especially if you find that you don’t have the time or aren’t consuming them in their whole natural form.
